HAP-Codec

Any plans to support the HAP-Codec natively in Ventuz?
And before asking - why...
Size is in the range of mpeg2, but resolution can be higher than FullHD, quite less usage of CPU and the possibility of Alphachannel.

hi Thomas,
you are not the first

biggest pro of hap is: it is a gpu decoding codec and really pretty fast in decoding. many media servers are already using it and it would be awesome if ventuz would too!

It´s not only the fast decompression, but the possibility to use alpha, too.
To answer Dirk´s question from thw thread mentioned by chriss; quality of hap-videos is comparable with mpeg2, when using hap-q quality is better but the size of the file is more than double.

hi thomas,
for using alpha you can use huffyuv codec. also very fast and lossless! but: will result in huge file sizes

moin chriss,
the hap-videos are delivered by an agency and I have to use them in another application.
Just want to use them in Ventuz too.

Hello, another codec supporting alpha-channels would be "Lagarith".

but lagarith is extremely performance hungry!
huffyuv is MUCH better here!
