High resolution output with one PC

Post by allen hyoga » 20 Feb 2013, 10:47

Recently I find many company need the high resolution near 8K (8000 * 1024). i have no idea how to make a so high resolution to output with one PC, like the ati firepro w600 which offers 6 output(dp to dvi) or output one single to "some" device which can make a high resolution :P

any advice is welcome. thank u

Hi,
you should have a look at the Datapath x4. Pretty powerful if you know all limitations in the x4 as well as in the used interfaces (DVI-SL, DVI-DL, DisplayPort). And of course limitations in the graphic card or the render engine.
And if you then know how to use ventuz with render targets and viewports, you can use really a lot pixels out of one machine.
Cheers,
Tobi

For this kind of resolution, you will need a reasonably powerful GPU. The issue with resolutions at this size are usually the fill rate and render maps (render textures). 4 FullHD 1920x1080 screens side by side is roughly the dimensions you write of, which is easily handled by the mid-high range professional GPUs currently on the market (AMD FirePro or nVidia Quadro).

All else should be fairly straightforward.

Hi Tobi & Eric, thanks a lot.I find a hardware called TV Wall Splicing card which can magnify the output. So I plan to buy several card and select one ATI W-series to compose the TV matrix.if there are 6 Div outpus, I can get 15360 x 1080 resolution in max.I give a link about the scheme to share with you :)

Btw, Can I run ventuz on several machine and compose the output into one singnal ? what I meant is if ventuz support the parallel render. I find the vdieo adapter that type is ATI FirePro™ S400 Synchronization Module, which can compose multiple machine output to one huge and high resolution view.

I have checked this post about cluster render. However,I dont know how to synchronize the operating command just like touch command or some TCP command in real time.

I create a time line application and run on 2 machines,so the ventuz scene is divided into two part with the same resolution.I combine the two output singnals in visual. With the ATI synchronous graphic card technology(Genlock and Framlock) and the cluster feature of ventuz, the two frame is same, two singnals look like running on one computer. Then I wanna achieve a senior operation, I touch by swiping from left to right on one screen(with touch screen),the application of on which is responsive, but how to trigger another computer to be responsive together. :?

thanks for help : )

For realtime events and commands across multiple machines you should use OSC, a UDP based realtime network protocol. Ventuz supports bi-directional communication out of the box. The machine/screen you interact with sends out an event using OSC output nodes and the other machine receives it using an OSC input node.
