a scene with its resolution of 12288*3072 pixels, how many...
I have a scene with its resolution of 12288*3072 pixels, it was made up of a 12*4 video walls. If I use the workstation such as VBOX, how many workstations do I need to configure, and how to cluster them?
Thanks!
Alfred
Thanks!

Hi,
New Vbox Include w9000 amd graphic card. This card is capable of 6 outputs.
So basically I will say that you need 8 new vbox for graphics display + 1 controler.
You need to create your project in cluster concept.
Define IDs for each cluster.
Enable "cluster sync".
Genlock graphics cards.
That's one way to do.

Is it possible that I use the 2 VBOXes and 12 dvi splitters instead 8 VBOX? Furthermore, how to creat a project in cluster?
Thanks!

Yes it should be possible.
Some wallscreen technologies include in their screen split capabilities too.
For clustering maybe this post could help:

Hey,
I think if you want to use the native resolution of the displays, two PCs might not be enough...
Each display has 1366x768, if you use a datapath x4 you could feed three displays from one graphic card output. I think four displays is to much for the x4.
So for example a cluster of 3 by 4 Displays could be covered with one machine, which will end in four machines using a graphic card with four outputs.
But you should consider using the internal split function in the displays and feed for example 1920 by 1080 to one 2x2 cluster... still looks good and might be more efficient.
Cheers,
Tobi

Re: a scene with its resolution of 12288*3072 pixels, how man
Thanks Robert and Tobi
But I still have questions need Tobi's help:
1) what is native resolution of the display?
2) why did you say that each display has 1366*768? I plan to set up each display(screen)'s resolution with 1024*768, so the total resolution of the 8 by 3 video walls is 12288*3072. I plan to use the VBOX with 6 display ports and 12 display port to dvi spliiters, so one display port can support 2 screens and one workstation can support 12 screens. what does the datapath mean?
3) one machine can cover a cluster of 3 by 4 displays, in this case, 2 workstations is engough, right?
4) what does the internal split mean?
Thanks!

Hi,
1) what is native resolution of the display?
--> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_resolution
2) why did you say that each display has 1366*768? I plan to set up each display(screen)'s resolution with 1024*768, so the total resolution of the 8 by 3 video walls is 12288*3072. --> I thought it would be 1366 by 768, I was just checking the vertical resolution (3072 / 4 = 768) so I was assuming you are using monitors with 1366 by 768 as they are very common in display walls.
I am not sure what you mean with a dVI splitter... 80
3) one machine can cover a cluster of 3 by 4 displays, in this case, 2 workstations is engough, right?
-> There are a few things you have to consider like limitation ins DVI-SL or DVI-DL. Or limitation in your "dvi spliiter" etc.
4) what does the internal split mean?
--> most professional monitors do have a build in split functionality. So for example you send a 1920 by 1080 signal to a 2x2 display arrangement and tell the displays to just display a part of the image. Thats very common.
Cheers,
Tobi

Re: a scene with its resolution of 12288*3072 pixels, how man
Hi Tobi,
1) A 8 by 3 display walls with full HD,that is 1920 by 1080 pixels. but i prefer to the aspec ration is 1024 by 768 for each screen. DVI splitter means one display port input and two dvi outputs. Because every Vbox has six displays ports, with the use of splitter, each Vbox can support 12 screens. Two vboxes plus to twelve splitters can feed to 24 screens. Right? In this case, do I need to use internal split anymore? If yes, why?
for dp to dvi splitter, you can refer to this website:

2)"-> There are a few things you have to consider like limitation ins DVI-SL or DVI-DL. Or limitation in your "dvi spliiter" etc."
alfred>> what is the mean of DVI-SL or DVI-DL?
3) in this scenario, instead of the hardware configuration, do I need to do something about setup before starting to creation of scene or project in Ventuz?
Thanks!
alfred

Re: a scene with its resolution of 12288*3072 pixels, how man
hi Tobi,
Let me take another scenario as the example, a 3 by 3 video walls, each screen's resolution is 1024 by 768, the total resolution is 3072 by 1536. In this case, can one vbox meet with this requiurment? If yes, what do I do with the setup in Ventuz?
Thanks!

sorry Tobi, not a 3 by 3, but 3 by 2.
