It does look like a good card Professional Card for the money! Although I trialling one of the non pro Radeon HD 7950 cards at the moment that has 3Gb of memory. Getting closer to the spec of the pricey V9800 card ;)

Seems to be work well at the moment! But it is always a gamble when professional cards are only recommended for Ventuz.

I presume that the most recommended card is still the Firepro V8800 for Ventuz as no one has used the V7900??

Thanks,
Joe

Hey !

Actually we do have several customers using V7900 and the V7900 with SDI option as well ! So far no one complains :)

Our VBOX manufacturer XI-Machines doesn't like the cards that much due to the fact the cards are using one slot and therefore exchange the air inside the machine. So he needs to have a different cooling concept in terms of airflow.

Cheers

Hi Andre,

Thanks for your reply. can you tell me if XI mainly use the FirePro v8800 and V9800 in the V-boxes?
Are these the most recommended cards for Ventuz at the moment?

Many thanks,
Joe

Hey !

Yes, FirePro 8800 and 9800 series, because of multiple screen projects. But PNY Quadro cards have been ordered a lot too.

Hi,
From what I figured out, the nvidia cards are not that flexible with different setups of output screens, for example portrait mode.
Still the ati driver does not support all arrangements of its outputs. I talked with some engineers from amd, saying that the new driver will support all possible arrangements. That shall be released soon...

Cheers,
Tobi

The V8800 and V7900 are very similar in terms of speed in my experience. The V8800 has an edge in terms of geometry and the V7900 has an edge in terms of textures (or was it the other way around... hm.) Either way, the V7900 is an excellent performance for value - and 4 outputs as well.

Hi All ):

Just bought a V8800 with 4 outputs.
For the try i have just put 4 overlays with 4 HD videos (Encoded with a bitrate of 15MB constant in QT H264) looping and running perfectly on this card.
The only little problems i have expérimented is always the same about EDID configurations for resolution. But with an Edid manager like lightware ones i solve this problem easily.
You could make 4 1920*1080 in online or up and down or 2*2 . working as well with 4 *1400*1050 outputs.

Regards

Anthony
