Animation Data Number Format

I have created a Single/Float data input in my animation data for a template. I would like to set the format to allow inputting "0.000". I have tried both n3 and f3 as the Format but Director doesn't seem to properly read the setting, rounding all inputs to two decimal places "0.00". I've found similar behavior in Project Data formatting.
