Sky box transition

Hi,

we've been having a few shows that need to transition skies live. skybox makes the entire 3D scene change colors with irradiance and specular light..
Was wondering if we can have the ability to transition the amount "smoothly" when changing textures..

Currently the only way i can do it is by taking taking a buffer > taking all amounts (Irradiance, Specular, and sky texture) to 0 > then Pass the new texture > then bring the amounts back to 100...
But that makes the scene go very dark and then bright again..

what I'm looking for is to make a type of cross dissolve that applies to the sky and the stage.
