Artnet Output more than 16 Universes, Custom Pixel/Channel Layout

Currently Ventuz is only able to control a single subnet with 16 universes with one machine. Why is there a limitation?
It would be good to set ArtnetNode(if unicast enabled), Subnet, Universe within the DMX Nodes.

Furthermore the "Layout" Dropdown of the DMX Texture Node ist very limited. 16-Bit Channel LEDs with RGBW Pixel are not controllable.

While all of those are valid points, may I ask you what exactly you're trying to do?

Eg. if possible, use sACN over Artnet. The former is the more mature protocol, and first of all it allows for synchronizing universes with each other so that in a let's say big LED installation all the LEDs get their pixel values at the same time. Artnet just isn't built for that size (which is one of the reasons we don't support that yet). You can also run both over the same network in parallel if that's a concern; just throw out any cheap switches that aren't multicast capable.

You won't be able to specify physical universe addresses in the node tho; as with all other I/O we map the DMX universes through the machine configuration so when you're running are production they're not dependent on the project file (or somebody using Designer).

As far as 16 bit output and RGBW for the DMX Texture node is concerned, I'll log that as feature request. RGBW can be tricky because usually you need to know the physical properties of the LEDs to get it right (eg. relative brightness, color temperature and gamma curve of the W LED in relation to RGB) and we can't just present a one size fits all solution, but 16bit output is certainly doable. I'll add it to the list. :)

Hi Tammo,
thank you for your anweser. We want to control 20 meters of 144Led/m RGBW Stripe as an Ambientlight behind a videowall. The Artnetnodes support sACN as well, we will check that. Currently we are controlling them with madmapper and controlling the cues with ventuz via osc. We would like to get rid of madmapper.

Thank's for putting things on the list. Concerning the configuration of the 16-Bit-/LED-/Fixture-/Channelconfigstuff I attached a screenshot of the Madmapper Interface, which could be an inspiration ;-)
