52 FullHD video wall

Post by CyberMIX » 27 Feb 2012, 10:02

Hello!
We need to make a video wall (52 Full HD panels), located along the perimeter of the room. On the video wall we want to demonstrate content from different sources (DVD, blue Ray, notebook, TV and so on). We need to display content pixel to pixel, that mean that we want 52xFullHD. We need to play content from different sources at one time (for example two TV channels, DVD and video from notebook). As development software we want to use Ventuz. Also we are thinking of organizing cluster of VBox’s.
Following questions:
1. How many VBox’s do we need, to achieve required screen resolution?
2. What graphic card is used in VBox and what synchronization card?
3. How many video panels we could connect to one graphic card?
4. Do we need to use additional resources for intermediate stitching, before we connect panels to VBox. If it’s so, what is the best hardware for that?
5. With the help of what we could connect different sources (DVD, Blu-ray, notebook, TV and so on) to Ventuz in case we could work with them? One of the tasks is to select and change TV channels.
6. Extra task – to make this wall interactive. We have worked with RadarTouch and LaserTouch and we are thinking of using one of them. The question is how could we organize video wall, VBox’s and 4 LaserTouches working together normally? (The client should move the video from one side of the wall to another side\corner).

Mikhail.

Hi,
radarTOUCH is, although it has been the first one of his kind, a living product so that we always add features or offer add on software. One software is radarSTITCHER, it basically does what you need, combining multiple unis to cover even larger sizes. Usually all ad ons are free of charge.

Just send us a mail if you need further information.

How are your displays arranged? Would be helpful to know to figure out a possible number of computers and gpu.

hi mikhail

it is realy difficult to answer....it depends a lot of the file formats bit rate and desired output frame rate you want to play and also how many live inputs you want to use at same time!

Thanks for you answer!
At this moment we have 52 FullHD panels and nothing else. We thinking about structure of this installation.
I send you private message with some questions about RadarTouch add-ons.

Hi!

Our client want to see 4k video and 12mp photo and maximum number of live-inputs at the same time. The total number of live-inputs is 10 (blue-ray, dvd, notebook, etc).

Hello

Try something like this:

1) Each of "source" connect with SDI Splitter (e.g. KramerVM-10HD) by means of converter to SDI signals, i.e. if you have BLu-Ray player with HDMI output then you must use HDMI-SDI converter.
2) You must have computers with video capture cards (e.g. DELTA-hd). Connect SDI Splitter's output with Delta-hd card input each computer. Then you can use video stream in Ventuz by means of live video node.
3) Use ATI FirePro V9800 (video card support 6 monitor) with ATI FirePro S400(sync card). It is the most powerfull configuration at present time. Use Ventuz cluster.

Simple esimate: ATI FirePro V9800 haves 6 video output, therefore you will need 9 computer(with ATI FirePro V9800, ATI FirePro S400, DELTA-hd in every one). Number of SDI Splitter = Number of XtoSDI Conveter = Number of "Source".

But there is problem with quantity of enabled devices in Live Node it is 8 maximum so if you have "source" more than 8 i don't know what to do:)???
