from what I read about Webm/VP9 the alpha channel is/was more or less an experimental feature only running in chrome.
I‘d use Animation Codec or HAP.

you can mirror the headset from within Steam, even stereoscopic. It is square then, for each eye.

Haha. Nice idea, but i don’t have one myself. The question was intended to clarify if the partially higher resolution would have to be done in Ventuz.
