Discord is not a replacement, it is a supplement - different strengths and weaknesses.
As to the theme, you can thank GDPR - we had to update everything and here we are. At some point we will change the skin to something more digestible, for sure.

Hey, unfortunately not. This has been requested several times, but because of the way Ventuz works is quite a bit trickier than one might think. It is on our feature request list though, and we'll try to figure something out in a future release. Don't hold your breath though!
If you need it within a 3D tree, you can always use the FX node in the hierarchy tree, too... but as Dennis says, normally, you would want this as a layer effect.
