AMD Eyefinitygroup cluster building problem

Post by stephan » 30 Jan 2016, 18:51

Dear community,

I never had problems in cluster building in the past. But from now on ...
Building a fresh win7 system (updated till end of 2015), graphicscard AMD W8100, last firepro-drivers, eyefinitygroup (3x1920)x1080.
Everything's fine.

The Ventuz-Configmanager (v.4.07.01) don't accept this eyefinitygroup and shows the attached errors
( ... one ore more elements in the cluster have a zero resolution ???)
The created layout is 1x 1920x1080.
I have no idea what to do ...

thanks in advance for your help,
Stephan

Problem solved, but unknown reason for mailfunction ...

Building an identical system this night, same hardware except the graphicscard (W9100), and it's ok :!:
The Configurator works as expected, can build displaygroups.
Very strange, I can't explain myself ... it must be a hardware problem, Ventuz is innocent :)

... the mainboard is the killer
Both systems uses absolutely identical asus mb's, one system works, the other not.
It's better to give up any search for a reason :)

I just set up a test cluster with an Eyefinity group - used consumer GPUs though. Same issue: Ventuz Config couldn't retrieve the info from the system. I just set it up manually and it works. The error pretty much only means your system doesn't report the display config correctly for some reason. I wouldn't assume any hardware error. Although I don't know about your freezing issue.

Best,

Lerou is right!

This error message only means that Ventuz Machine Service (VMS) could not retrieve any valid display setup information from the graphics board (could be related to the driver version or a bug on our side).
In such a case you have to build your RenderSetup manually.
BUT this does NOT affect the functionality of the RenderSetup rendering in Ventuz. This automatic RenderSetup build is only a convenience feature. :)

Best Regards
Karol
