PNG Sequence not reading format

Post by joysprod » 14 May 2016, 09:10

I built a quick routine to convert some png sequences to video using Ventuz. They are large at 10280x1200 but seems to work.

I'm having a problem reading a sequence of png files that open fine in a texture node but not as a sequence through the movie frame node. Reports BadFile on error

Here is a sample of one the sequence png's
AW 01_00452.png
Any reason why it fails?

Hi,

it seems to be a problem with the file name. When I rename it, it works.
We will check what the problem exactly is and if we can fix this from our side.

Hi again,

we investigated a bit. The problem is that your sequence starts with 422. When you select your file AW 01_00422.png we look for the start of sequence AW 01_%5d.png, but only for the first couple of frames. Since there is no AW 01_00001.png it fails.

We see if we change that from our side, but at the moment make sure your sequences starts at 0 or 1 ( AW 01_00000 or AW 01_00001 ) and it will work.

Cheers

Hi Götz

Yes, I eventually came to the same conclusion. My problem was my client had supplied me an animation that ran from 0000.png to 0650.png used at the beginning, and then a different animation for 15 variations that started at 0651.png to 1000.png to make up a full animation. I was trying to bring them in as two separate animations and put them on the timeline, and add audio. Eventually, we figured out that by renaming starting from 0000.png we could bring in this second animation. Of course, had we put all parts together in one folder we would not have found this restriction. Now we know for future use.

Regards

Peter

Hey,

for future use:

We fixed that :)
From the next release on, it will look for the start of the sequence - even if it is not 0000.

So you can select 0651.png, if there is nothing lower, it will start at 0651,png. Or your sequence goes from 0651 to 1000, select 0845 and it will start at 0651
