DDS vs PNG

I was wondering, as we still very often get mixed responses, what is best used, PNG files or DDS for Images & Textures?

We have always used DDS, then moved to PNGs for some reason and I wanted to know what the community actually says.

go back to DDS, or stay with PNG?

Thanks,

My 2 cents: As long as I don't have to use DDS, I stick to PNG. The workflow is easier as all applications can handle it. And it compresses lossless. I switch to DDS when I have memory restrictions (think of a gallery with hundreds of images, non-alpha DDS is 1/8 the size of PNG) or I need fast loading times (like a dynamic gallery where you can swipe through images and need to reload them quickly). So as long as memory and performance are ok, I avoid DDS.

Best,
