Using subsets to animate a page flip

Post by Carlos » 11 Jul 2013, 10:52

Hey there!

So, after struggling for a while, I've found a way to animate a 3D page flip. Once I got my animation right on MAX, I export every single frame of the animation to a separate obj file, then I re-import all the obj files to a new scene, and then export that scene to a new obj file.

I import that file into Ventuz and all I have to do is animate the subset property on my page, so it seems like it's flipping.

BUT. I don't know how Ventuz handles the hierarchy, and I have no way to set it right so that the subset 0 is the beginning of the animation and the subset 50 is the end. So, I have this weird animation where everything run smoothly and then, suddenly, there are jumps on the animation.

I don't know if I've explained myself, but I would love to know how would you handle this.

Thank you SO MUCH in advance!

Cheers,

hi,

if you haven´t done yet then try to organize your objects and use numbers or named them from a-z.

creative regards,

So, the order of subsets is set based on alphabetical order? Am I getting it right?

Damn it, I can't get it to work, even renaming all the elements.
Am I doing it right? Is this the right workflow for such an animation?
Could you take a look to my file?
I'm getting so frustrated! :)

P.S: I've tried to upload my max file but it's over 2mb.

You made my day :)

That was exactly what I was doing, but I'm still frustrated! I don't know where's the flaw on the workflow, I think I'll keep this one like this for the moment.

Thank you so much for your effort, Tom!

5 min build a book scene

Post by hgoodsir » 12 Jul 2013, 10:30

I just put together a quick 5min example of a book if I was to spend more time I would do correct UV mapping on pages which would take another 2mins of my time.

Wow. Either you are talented as s*** or you live on a different time dimension where 5 minutes lasts like 5 days of mine :)

Thank you SO MUCH.
