you cannot import .MAX files. MAX file format is only compatible with itself. :)
either export OBJ, COLLADA using the third-party ColladaMAX plugin or if everything else fails 3DS. Or try the PandaX exporter which exports X files.

Hi Krix,
long time no hear :)... Do you refer to https://collada.org/mediawiki/index.php/ColladaMax ? When it comes to Maya, we used to work with the OpenCollada Exporter, which works really smooth with Ventuz.. But it seems the OpenCollada Exporter for 3D-Max is not the first choice..
I trained Kim in Korea and he really desperately is looking for an exporter to work in 3D-Max..
thanks for the help,
Olli

I recommend to use the Panda DirectX exporter plug-in for 3ds Max. It's available for all releases of 3ds Max including 64-bit versions and works perfectly with Ventuz - and it's free. I use it frequently and never had any problems.

Yes, you can export animations. But I'm not sure if Ventuz reads animations from .X files. Never tested it so far.
