Hey together,
I am a new ventuz user and tried to find out how to get an animated geometry from maya to ventuz. When I look at the exported file in Deep Exploration the animation is fine. After importing the file into ventus the animation is gone, different import options didn't solve the problem. Does anyone know how to import/export collada with animation. And by the way, does collade/ventuz support vertice-animations or only object based animations?
thanx

Here is a lot of info about the topic: http://forum.ventuz.com/forums/2562/ShowPost.aspx Only object based animation is supported. Skinning, Bones and Vertex based animations are not.

hi Krix,
thanx for your info. unfortunately i still can't get the animation imported to ventuz. the hierarchy is okay. The animation is seen in DeepExploration, so i guess the file is correct. A reexport from DeepExploration didn' solve the problem either.

Hi Ralf,
if you post a Collada export from Maya which has a mini scene with a mini animation we could look into it to find out what´s going on.
Best Regards Karol

Hi Karol,
that's great. I attached a rotating cube in a moving group.

Hi Ralf,
you can´t import the animation in this case because it´s a matrix-animation. Ventuz can´t handle this kind of animations (which come from a physics-simulation I guess). Right now we only import translation, rotation, scaling in seperated channels (normal keyframe animations). You could try to bake this animation at export (Bake transforms in the Collada export dialog).
Hope this helps Karol

Hi Karol,
wow - this is strange! if the transform is baked in the collade export dialog from maya the animation will be exported as a matrix-animation. without the bake option everything is fine.
You really helped me!

I did not take a look at your scene but usually use the Bake Keys option from with Maya before exporting anything. This way I see all keyframes and what I export beforehand.
