dfg 1394 capture device
Hello,

Have anybody some experience with dfg 1394 firewire video capture device in Ventuz?
it have interesting hardware deinterlacing, I hope little bit better than in ventuz, and really low latency.

I've researched deviced like these to easily add extra video inputs in Ventuz and I had found the following product (DekTec DTU-225):

It uses USB instead of FireWire, but has similar specs. It seems much more expensive, but if you're in the broadcast industry, it offers SDI inputs instead of composite.

I've never seen any capture device for usb without noticable latency.
this is really working in Ventuz? we really need composite and s-video, but SDI probably we will need in our other broadcast project. does it support capturing of HD resolutions on SDI?

bye clad

Well if it works as a standard 1394 video device there should be no problem at all, connecting it to Ventuz. Ventuz uses Firewire video devices just like that. I use a DV-cam as a live video source for testing purposes.

The video from the camera does have a very notable delay, though. I don't know if it is the camera or Windows, but I guess it is Windows.

Cheers,

Stefan

There must be a delay, similar to using a MiniDV camcorder as your video source. It's probably not the best option, but it's relatively cheap if latency isn't too big a factor.

i think latency is always big factor.
DFG have advance that it captures video non compressed (midiDV cameras are compressing video stream to mjpeg), so there is no time loss because of compression...
