please add:
A) a plugin for Max and Maya that supports (camera, objects, materials, characters) animations and automatically build the right nodes inside Ventuz B) more ready-made templates or a wizard that assemble templates C) a VR node to do stereoscopic projections that split the screen and the camera in two views D) collision detection E) dynamics F) particles G) bevel (flat or rounded) on extrusions H) A better 3d viewer, scene camera, edit camera with basic visualizations (top, front, right, orthographic...etc.) J) visible 3d paths to know where the camera goes! K) handles (gizmoz) to move in 3d spaces objects
Cheers!

That is quite a list. Some features would be really cool, but most of them are a bit unrealistic (at least for the time being). Here is my take on your list.
A) That will be the Collada Support. You get whatever Collada plugin you want for whatever application out there (Max, Maya, Softimage, ...) to transfer animations to Ventuz. Ventuz already builds the right nodes when importing a 3d model or scene using the existing formats. In 99% of all cases problems with the import are related to wrong export settings or simply bad exporter plug-ins in the other applications. At least that's what my experience has shown me for the past 4 years i worked with Ventuz.
B) More templates would be nice. But for what? It would make sense for scene setups and Digital Signage and Broadcast Templates. I can't think of anything else at the moment. You can create those you specifically need yourself with the Repository. Using the new Fast Repository feature from the Toolbox, you have very fast access to the templates and you can always customize them to your needs. Anyway, whatever Ventuz will create will always be very generic to address an user-base as big as possible. That will probably never cover exactly what you need or want.
C) Would be a nice feature to have when creating those graphics, but theoretical you should be able to create the setup yourself already using the existing nodes. Why wait for the feature when you can play around in Ventuz to create the effect yourself now?
D) Would be nice but is not important at this point. Ventuz is not a game engine a la Quest3D. Ventuz is an application to display information and graphics in the best possible way on as many different displays as possible. Collision Detection and walk-through features, etc are a nice addition but there are more important features that should be added to Ventuz first.
E) Yep. I want Dynamics too. But that would require Collision Detection and also ties in with Particles. That is one extremely huge development and when dealing with realtime graphics you need something like the Havoc engine. You can't wait for calculations like you can in traditional 3D applications. So don't hold your breath for that one.
F) Particles would be cool and without dynamics or interaction with other geometry could probably be added sooner rather than later ... hopefully.
G) That includes import and transaltion of vector graphics and would be a great addition.
H) "A better 3D viewer"? There is no 3D viewer in Ventuz - not really. You see the final render output. That is a different approach because you are dealing with realtime graphics. In order to integrate your 3d viewer request, Ventuz would need a seperate editor mode that behaves completly different to the existing mode. The differences between Design/Edit and Presenter would be huge. Since Ventuz is not designed this way it would have to be developed from the ground up and be tight in with the existing environment. Maybe something like that will be added in a future release or not at all. This feature has only been requested by very, very few people, so it is not a priority anyway. I don't need it as well. Maybe in Ventuz 2010/2011 ...
I) ?? missing :)
J) yeah, that would help.
K) See H).
There have already been discussions in this forum for all of these topics and your list is a nice overview, but most of these requests are extremlely complex and cannot be simply added in the next release since we are dealing with realtime graphics. And existing features like video playback, live video, graphics and animations have to be combined with that in order to keep the existing Ventuz workflow the way it is.

ooops! I missed the "I" anyway.... Krix you are right... Having purchased Ventuz basic, not different from the Professional for the nodes I use, I'm deciding if purchase Quest3d or not. The answer is yes when be released the 4.0 version. I need to import animations made with Max and then tweak them with Ventuz, create buttons, etc. Mine it's a simple use, I don't use ventuz for broadcast but I like it because I like to do broadcast like presentations. Templates are very useful in Quest3d because are like demos with nodes (or channels) ready made for all type of use... Ventuz could be a game engine, a vr engine, a realtime broadcast engine, etc. Ventuz lacks all the 3d interface that has Quest but this lacks powerful animation editor... All the requests I asked are useful for a large number of users, surely not for you. We will see what Ventuz engineers will develop in next future...
Ciao!

I attached a scene containing my EZviews node. This will give you a basic 4-viewports option (orthogonal left, right, top and perspective) where you can zoom in and out and change position using the mouse. You can also toggle between this mode and perspective 1-camera mode using the "1"-key. Unfortunately you'll need the pro versions scripting-option to have full functionality :(
Cheers, Martin
