Idea [I]No more Windows Vista Explorer crashes
I found a solution for getting rid of Explorer crashes when running Ventuz on Windows Vista. When browsing forVentuz files (VZS and VPR for example) either in the regular Windows Explorer or in Ventuz File Open dialogs, the explorer and Ventuz crash instantly. I finally found out that the problem is related to explorer shell extensions installed by other applications such as Adobe's CS3 products - especially Acrobat.

These shell extensions are usually icons added to the Right-Click Context Menus and File Handlers. There is a simple tool called "ShellEx Viewer" which allows you to browse all registered shell extensions and deactivate specific ones. The application can be downloaded here: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html

Run ShellEx Viewer and deactivate all red marked entries. Most entries are for Adobe products and usually also WinRar, WinZip and maybe nVidia related. Restart your system and Ventuz and the Windows Explorer won't crash anymore.

Attachment: VentuzOnVista.zip
Since this  does not seem to work for everyone here is a small Regestry-File which diables the thumbnails for the Ventuz scenes.
Just unzip and double-click the .reg file and restart your computer!
After that the explorer should not crash anymore!

Best Regards
karol
